CCR elects new President following successful Fall Consultation

The Canadian Council for Refugees is pleased to announce that Dorota Blumczynska was elected President at its Annual General Meeting on November 30. Ms Blumczynska was the Vice-President of the CCR for the past two years and is the Executive Director of the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba Inc. (IRCOM) in Winnipeg. Aleks Dughman-Manzur was elected Vice-President, representing the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.

“I am honoured to lead the Canadian Council for Refugees in its critical work of saving lives, protecting human rights, and restoring dignity,” said Dorota Blumczynska, CCR President.

Ms Blumczynska takes over from Claire Roque, who served as President from the end of 2017, and will continue on the Executive as Past President.

The AGM took place at the conclusion of a successful CCR Fall Consultation in Ottawa, from 28 to 30 November. Participants engaged in discussions on a wide range of topics relating to refugees and vulnerable migrants.
