Job offer: Policy and Campaign Manager – Asylum with Dignity

The Opportunity to ensure Asylum with Dignity

Canada is renowned for welcoming and resettling refugees from around the world. Yet we have no system to support the rising numbers of people driven from their homes by violence and persecution to our doorstep. The lack of a coordinated response from all levels of government fails those who have a right to asylum, puts local governments and community groups in short-term reaction mode, and leaves Canadians shocked that so many refugees end up homeless. It’s a crisis of our own making. CCR is calling for a National System for Asylum with Dignity and seeks to mobilize its members and allies to engage decision makers and the public to implement these solutions. We are looking for a Policy and Campaign manager to bring energy and strategic leadership to this campaign alongside other key advocacy priorities to advance refugee rights.

About the role

Working under the supervision of the Co-Executive Director, Policy and Advocacy, the successful candidate will:

1.    Convene and coordinate relevant member working groups and campaign subcommittees
2.    Develop and help implement advocacy strategies that advance CCR strategic policy priorities
3.    Monitor policy opportunities and ensure timely analysis, recommendations and commentary on identified CCR advocacy priorities
4.    Support outreach and engagement with partners and external experts to inform and strengthen CCR advocacy and support relevant initiatives of allied campaigns
5.    Contribute as part of a broader staff team to organizational planning and evaluation and to building a collaborative, positive and respectful work environment consistent with CCR’s mission, values and policies.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week), with opportunities for occasional domestic travel and limited expectations for work on weekends and evenings.
