The path to citizenship is a long process with many potential obstacles. In light of recent changes to the Citizenship Act, front-line workers need to know about the new rules and continuing challenges in order to appropriately inform the citizenship candidates they support.
Participants at this webinar will learn about:
- Key changes arising from Bill C-6: An Act to Amend the Citizenship Act, including timelines for provisions;
- Key issues:
- Residency requirements
- Waivers from language and/or knowledge requirements.
- Particular issues that one-time refugees should watch for
Presenter Jennifer Stone will provide practical information, guiding front-line workers through the citizenship application process. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
This webinar will last 60 minutes, and is part of the “Improving access to Justice” series, designed to reinforce the capacity of front-line workers to support refugees and vulnerable migrants in accessing legal information.
Cette session aura lieu en anglais. La version française aura lieu le 5 décembre à 14h. Cliquez ici pour plus de renseignements.
