The Canadian Council for Refugees has established a Syrian Refugee Support Fund to help support the settlement of Syrian refugees in Canada.
The Fund was initiated by the Canadian Labour Congress and its affiliates, who asked the CCR to manage funds to support Syrian refugees in Canada.
The Fund will be used to support the settlement of Syrian refugees in Canada, i.e.:
- to supplement funds raised by private sponsorship groups to allow them to sponsor more Syrian refugees,
- to facilitate family reunification through legal channels,
- to provide income support to impoverished recently arrived Syrians in Canada.
In response to demand, the CCR is also welcoming individual tax-receiptable donations to support Syrian refugees.
Donations to the Fund can be made at ccrweb.ca/en/syrian-refugee-support-fund.
Money received will go to the Fund above, and to promote and support the resettlement of Syrian refugees through information-sharing, networking and advocacy (15% of funds).
