Call for Core Group members and Youth Action Gathering Highlights

The Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) Youth Network Core Group (YN-CG) needs you! We are currently seeking for new members to join this important directive group.

The YN-CG is in charge of  maintaining communication with the  CCR executive, planning and facilitating workshops at CCR Consultations, mentoring new members of the Youth Network,  participating in the planning and facilitation of Youth Action Gatherings,  and advising on funding and the general direction of the Youth Network.

The YN-CG is made up of volunteers who participate in bi-weekly* conference calls. Core Group members also participate during CCR General Consultations.

By being part of the core group, you have the opportunity to:

●     Influence the future directions of the Youth Network and the CCR

●        Develop leadership, organizational, facilitating skills and public speaking

●        Collaborate with other Youth leaders from across the Canada

●        Bring the voice of your community into policy related conversations

●     Stay up to date with immigration and settlement policies

●     Network with academics, policy makers, advocates and mentors

ELIGIBILITY: The YN-CG is made up of self-identified migrant youth between the ages of 16 to 25 years old. While affiliation to a CCR member organization allows for greater support for YN-CG members, this is not a requirement. However, in order to be eligible for the YN-CG, a candidate must have some experience with the CCR. This can include participating in organizing or facilitating an event, workshop, or activity. Since the province of Ontario is well represented, we highly encourage applications from members outside Ontario.

If you are interested in applying please email us at yn@ccrweb.ca   by  August 20th.

Updates from the Youth Action Gathering

We organized our sixth successful Youth Action Gathering (YAG) in June.  Like always, the YAG was a magical place that allowed participants to learn, share and build unforgettable new friendships and connections.  Here are some of the highlights:
