Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) national consultation, 26-28 November 2015

23 November 2015 - Members of the media are invited to the CCR’s national consultation taking place in Hamilton from 26-28 November 2015.
The CCR Consultation will bring together leaders from refugee- and immigrant-serving organizations across Canada, especially those working on preparations to welcome Syrian refugees. Participants also include representatives of faith-based organizations, government representatives, academics, lawyers, youth activists, refugees and other newcomers to Canada. Opportunities will be available to interview participants.
Participants at the Consultation sessions will discuss issues such as: coordinating responses to Syrian refugees; access to mental health care; access permanent residence and citizenship issues; and building public support for refugee resettlement.
Most of the conference sessions are open to the media, with the exception of the Working Group meetings and special sessions indicated in the program at: ccrweb.ca/en/meetings.
Key national and local spokespeople will be available on Thursday 26 November 12 noon - 12:30 pm on-site following the opening plenary to speak with media representatives.
