CCR Summer Working Group meetings

Do you want to be part of efforts to promote rights for refugees?  Are you interested in hearing the latest on issues affecting refugees and immigrants in Canada?  Looking for an opportunity to share information and strategies with others from across Canada?

End your summer the right(s) way! Come to the CCR Summer Working Group meetings in Montreal 5 and 6 September 2014. 

CCR members and allies are encouraged to attend the Working Group meetings.  The meetings are closed to media and government. There is no cost to participate and no registration is necessary.

The meeting schedule is:

FRIDAY 5 SEPTEMBER:

9:30am - 5pm: Overseas Protection & Sponsorship Working Group meeting

SATURDAY 6 SEPTEMBER:

9:30am - 5pm: Inland Protection Working Group meeting

9:30am - 5pm: Immigration and Settlement Working Group meeting

How to get to the meetings:

Location: The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, 3415 rue Redpath, Montreal, QC

By public transport: Guy-Concordia metro station (on the green line).  Take the Rue Guy exit and walk up to the intersection with Sherbrooke. Turn right and walk past Rue Mackay to turn left on Rue Redpath and enter 3415 Redpath.  The meeting rooms are on the main floor.

Proposed agendas for the meeting will be sent to the CCR listserve and posted on the webpages of each Working Group.

All CCR members are encouraged to attend the Working Group meetings.  Anyone who is interested is welcome to participate, however meetings are closed to media and government employees.

About the Working Group meetings

The CCR’s three Working Groups provide the forum for CCR members and other refugee and immigrant rights advocates to exchange information, network and develop policy positions in particular areas of concern.  Each Working Group is responsible for preparing resolutions, following up on action items, and planning workshops for the consultations, as well as for advising the CCR Executive on policy.  The Working Group meetings are closed to representatives of government and the media.

The CCR Working Groups meet four times a year.  Two of these meetings take place during the consultations (see above).  The other two series of working group meetings take place in February (in Toronto) and in September (in Montreal).

The working group meetings offer an excellent opportunity to:

• Participate in efforts to promote refugee protection and resettlement, and the settlement of refugees and immigrants
• Discuss in depth pressing issues affecting refugees and immigrants in Canada
• Share information and strategies with others from across Canada.
