Mexico’s new ambassador to Ottawa, Francisco Suarez, has gone on the offensive — to the extent he can, anyway — on the tourist visa requirement Mexican citizens face when they come to Canada. It costs $400, and apparently requires everyone from the Oaxacan dirt farmer to the millionaire Mexico City executive to furnish $400, vehicle registrations, old passports and the dates of their parents’ deaths. It does seem a bit much.
