Working Group meetings and Closing Plenary
Working Group meetings
Participate in the Working Groups to learn more about the issues, talk about new challenges and strategize about how to move forward collectively on our concerns.
At this Consultation, we are holding the Working Group meetings in two parts:
Part 1, Thursday 1 June, 9 am - 10 am
Come to be introduced to the Working Group, review follow up to past actions and concerns and look ahead to workshops. This is the ideal way to get connected and up to speed as the consultation opens.
Part 2, Friday 2 June, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
This is your opportunity to discuss action items and resolutions from the workshops, as well as other recommendations for collective action.
Choose your working group according to your main area of interest:
- Immigration and Settlement (includes migrant worker issues)
- Overseas Protection and Sponsorship (overseas refugee issues and resettlement)
- Inland Protection (includes refugee claimants and detention in Canada)
Working Group meetings, strategy sessions and select workshops are closed to government and media.
Why? CCR Consultations are a unique opportunity for refugee rights advocates to come together and to speak freely about policy issues and how the CCR should move forward. Select sessions with sensitive topics and cases are closed to government and media to ensure a safe, anonymous sharing space.
Closing Plenary (Saturday 3 June, 11 am - 1 pm)
Come to this meeting to hear about from our invited speaker.
The presentation will be followed by the CCR's general meeting which will debate CCR policy on new issues through resolutions and review key issues that have emerged through the consultation discussions.
