Seeking a coordinator

Position: Project coordinator
Hours: 3/5 time
Deadline: Friday 5 November 2010
Location: Can be anywhere in Canada
 
The Canadian Council for Refugees is launching a project to coordinate support across Canada for trafficked persons. The goal of the project is to promote and guide, through a pan-Canadian network, 1) outreach and awareness-raising about trafficking in the regions, 2) development of best practices in services to trafficked persons.
 
The CCR is seeking a coordinator for this project, for a contract of $8,500, for the current phase of the project, to finish 31 March 2011.
The coordinator will be responsible for 1) Outreach to NGOs in communities not currently part of the CCR network, 2) Coordinating the collection and online display of best practices in outreach and awareness-raising about trafficking, and services to trafficked persons, 3) Gathering input from NGOs about needs for further tools. The coordinator will work in consultation with the project steering committee.
 
While the position is part-time, the person must be available during the day for phone calls.
 
The person may be located anywhere in Canada, and will be expected to provide his/her own office equipment.
 
Qualifications:
  • knowledge of trafficking issues in Canada and support for CCR’s approach (as outlined at trafficking.ca)
  • familiarity with the NGO sector, preferably NGOs involved in responding to trafficked persons
  • demonstrated excellent organizational and networking skills
  • initiative and ability to work independently
  • fluency in English. French is an important asset
  • good writing skills
  • commitment to human rights and social justice
